The 22nd-ranked Syracuse women's basketball team (16-2, 6-1 ACC) heads to South Bend, Ind., this Thursday to take on #15/18 Notre Dame (14-3, 5-2 ACC). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. Fans unable to make the trip to South Bend can stream the game live on ACC Network Extra online or through the ESPN app.
The Orange enters Thursday's contest on a five-game win streak, with their most recent victory being a 72-59 road win against Pittsburgh last Sunday. Georgia Woolley had her fourth 20-point performance of the season against the Panthers, accompanied by Dyaisha Fair's team-best 22 points. Fair scored 18 of points from behind the arch. Saniaa Wilson led the team with 13 rebounds and was one point shy of a double double.
'Cuse is ranked in both the Associated Press and the USA Today/WBCA Coaches polls for the first time since 2021, enjoying a #22 ranking in each. Thursday will be Syracuse's fifth game against a Top-25 team this season. The Orange are 2-2 against ranked teams and one of those wins was a victory over Notre Dame earlier this season.
Notre Dame is on a four-game win streak and is on the heels of a 75-56 win against Wake Forest. Freshman Hannah Hidalgo is the leading scorer for the Fighting Irish, averaging 23.9 points per game. Notre Dame was ranked #15 in the AP Poll and #18 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll this week after a 2-0 week, both road games for the Irish. ND is 7-1 at home this season.
Syracuse and Notre Dame met earlier this season inside the JMA Wireless Dome on Dec. 31, 2023, when the Orange earned an 86-81 win over the #13 Irish. Dyaisha Fair and Alyssa Latham combined for 48 points in the ACC opener which featured 10 lead changes and 10 ties over the 40 minutes. ND has the upper hand in past meetings, leading the series 39-6. Syracuse has never beat the Fighting Irish on the road (0-19) and is looking for its first season sweep of Notre Dame in program history.
