SYRACUSE N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season, taking down Cornell 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Drumlin's Country Club.

Syracuse started the match with a 6-2 victory in the number three doubles spot by Ines Fonte and Polina Kozyreva. The duo of Miyuka Kimoto and Emilie Elde effectively claimed the doubles point for the Orange, edging their opponents in the number one spot, 7-5. The pair of Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Shiori Ito rounded out the doubles competition with a tie-breaking win in the number two spot, 7-6, [7-1].

Constance Levivier obtained the first singles point of the match, taking down Alexandra Savu in the number six spot, 6-2, 6-1. Kozyreva was next to finish for the Orange, topping Emma Baker with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the number two spot.

In the number one singles spot, Kimoto got the best of her opponent, Lauren Stein, claiming a 6-4, 6-1 win and securing the match for the Orange. Ito took the fifth point for Syracuse in the number five spot, knocking off Gia Graziano 6-2, 6-1. Sysoeva followed up with a victory in the number four spot against Jenny Wong, 6-0, 6-4. Elde rounded out match play dropping her match to Michelle Ryndin in the number three spot, 6-3, 6-4.

The Orange take their first road trip of the season to New York, N.Y. to square off with Columbia on February 4 at 11 a.m.
