The #25 Syracuse women's basketball team will play its first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) road game on Thursday night when the Orange travel to North Carolina (9-4). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from Carmichael Arena.Â
Syracuse is off to its best start since the 2017-18 season. The 11-1 record and eight-game win streak propelled the Orange into the Associated Press Top-25 Poll for the first time in nearly two year's this week. 'Cuse was name the National Team of the Week by ESPN, NCAA March Madness and the USBWA following its five-point win over #13 Notre Dame on Sunday.Â
Dyaisha Fair leads the team in scoring this season and is coming off a 27 point performance against the Fighting Irish. She enters Thursday's game ranked 18th on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list with 2,927 points.Â
Freshman Alyssa Latham has had back-to-back double doubles and tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds against Notre Dame on Sunday. She's currently sixth in the ACC in rebounding with 8.8 rpg while teammate Kyra Wood (8.2) is seventh making Syracuse the only team in the ACC with two players in the top-10.Â
Georgia Woolley has scored in double figures eight times in night appearances this season. The junior guard from Brisbane, Australia, recently surpassed 1,000 career points and is second on the team in scoring this season with 15.4 ppg.Â
North Carolina has won three straight games after a stretch of losing four of five games. The Tar Heels dropped out of the AP Top-25 for the first time this season and are looking to extend the win streak after gaining steam with an 82-76 win over Clemson to begin ACC action on Sunday. Lexi Donarski scored a season-high 23 points in the win while the Tar Heels had 47 second half points.Â
Syracuse leads the all-time series 9-6. Last time the two met, Syracuse defeated #14 North Carolina on Feb. 9, 2023 at the JMA Wireless Dome for the first win over a nationally-ranked opponent for the Orange in the Felisha Legette-Jack Era.Â
