BU Overtakes Orange with Second and Third Period Tallies

The Syracuse hockey team (2-6) struck first against Boston University (5-3), but the Terriers managed to score twice in both the second and third periods, taking a 4-1 victory in the first game of the series.

'Cuse out-shot BU, who is receiving votes in this week's poll, 29-23 in shots on goal. Allie Kelley made 19 saves, and Jocelyn Fiala blocked three shots to lead the defensive effort.

Charli Kettyle scored on a cross-crease pass from Tatum White 7:34 into game action, a lead the Orange would take to the first intermission. It was Kettyle's second tally of the season.

Clara Yuhn scored a power-play goal with under four minutes remaining in the second to knot the game at one. Less than two minutes later, Lola Reid scored her first of two goals on the evening to give the Terriers the lead.

Reid's second of the evening came 2:01 into the third period, before Maeve Kelly scored with under eight minutes left in regulation to give the game its final result.

Game two of the weekend series is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion. The game will be televised on FloHockey.
