SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A pair of second-half goals from Ben Rosenblatt and Gabe Threadgold lifted the Syracuse men's soccer team (5-4-3, 1-2-2 ACC) over Notre Dame (5-2-3, 2-2-0 ACC), 2-1, Saturday night at SU Soccer Stadium for the team's first ACC win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Orange and the Fighting Irish played a tight first half, with neither team finding the back of the net through 45 minutes. SU edged the visitors, 4-3, in shots, and both teams earned three corners apiece in the first frame.

Rosenblatt broke through for the Orange nine minutes into the second half, striking a deflected ball from Threadgold and Michael Acquah into the back of the net for his first score in a Syracuse kit.

The Irish did not quit, though, equalizing the match five minutes later.

However, it was SU who showed its fight, jumping back in front just a minute and 36 seconds later, as Threadgold squeaked a ball past the goal line to put the Orange back in front. Acquah earned his second assist of the night on the goal.

Notre Dame put pressure on 'Cuse for the remainder of the second half, taking seven shots in attempt to level the contest, but the Syracuse defense held strong as the Orange went on to earn a 2-1 victory – their first conference win of the season.

OF NOTE:
Syracuse hits the road for its second-consecutive away nonconference match at Providence College on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloFC.
