Orange Lose at Lindenwood

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – Syracuse University women's ice hockey lost 4-1 at Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon at Centene Community Ice Center in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) action.
Syracuse (5-10-0, 3-3-0 AHA) found the net when Bryn Saarela delivered a power play goal from Jackson Kinsler and Sami Gendron just 65 seconds into the game. Allie Kelley made 31 saves on the night.
Lindenwood (3-12-1, 2-4-0) scored three goals in the first period with contributions from Morgan Neitzke, Maegan Cronan, and Olivia Grabianowski in that order. Zsofia Pazmandi scored late in the third period to secure the win. The Lions Goalkeeper Madison Bowtell finished the game with 32 saves.
How it Happened- Syracuse struck first at 1:05 of the first frame with a power play goal by Saarela and assisted by Kinsler and Gendron.
- Six minutes later, Neitzke responded for the Lions with an unassisted goal, tying the game at 1-1.
- Midway through the first period, Cronan connected on a cross pass from Sidney Jackel to put the Lions ahead 2-1.
- At 16:56, Lindenwood extended its lead to 3-1 as Grabianowski scored a power play goal on assists from Quinn McLaren and Pazmandi.
- The second period turned into a high-paced shooting duel, with Syracuse registering 31 total shots and Lindenwood firing 22. Despite the efforts, neither team could get it past the goalkeepers to keep the score the same entering the final period of play.
- Syracuse continued to press offensively in the final frame, putting nine shots on goal, but none found the back of the net.
- With just two seconds left in regulation, Zsofia Pazmandi sealed the Lions' 4-1 victory with an empty net goal.
