An 18-point second-half performance from freshman Donnie Freeman helped propel Syracuse (5-4) past UAlbany (6-5), 102-85, Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome. Freeman finished with a career-high 24 points, earning squad scoring honors for the second straight outing.
Senior guard Jaquan Carlos also had a career night in the win, recording his first-ever Syracuse double-double with 12 points and 12 assists, both season bests.
How The Game Was Decided
The Orange took control of the contest early, holding a 47-34 advantage at halftime. Coming out of the locker room, Syracuse continued to extend its lead, taking a 24-point advantage at the second half's 12:21 mark, it's largest edge of the game. UAlbany shaved into that margin and trailed 82-71 with five minutes left. An eight-point burst from Freeman extended the Orange advantage to 13, 90-77, with 2:16 to go. Syracuse outscored UAlbany, 9-6, in the final two minutes of the game to secure the win.
Fantastic Freeman
Freeman reached 24 points by shooting 10-of-13 from the field and converting all four of his 3-point attempts. The four threes represented a career-best effort.
Carlos Doubles Up

Carlos posted the first Syracuse double-double that included assists since Judah Mintz posted 10 points and 13 assists against Miami on Jan. 20, 2024.
First Half Burst Propels Orange to Lead
After a slow start that saw UAlbany take an early 12-10 edge, the Orange produced a 12-2 run to give themselves a 22-14 advantage midway through the first half. Six different players scored for 'Cuse during its run. After the stretch, the Orange would not concede its lead for the remainder of the game.
