Syracuse record-setting quarterback Kyle McCord finished in the top-10 of the Heisman Trophy voting.
The Orange signal caller led the nation in passing, with 4,326 yards, which was a new program record for single-season passing yards. He also set new school records for touchdown passes (29) and completions (367). The completions total also was tops in the nation this season and touchdown passes was fifth.Â
McCord is the eighth Syracuse player to finish in the top-10 of Heisman voting, joining Jim Brown (fifth - 1956), Ernie Davis (Winner - 1961), Floyd Little (fifth - 1965 and 1966), Larry Csonka (fourth, 1967), Don McPherson (second - 1987), Donovan McNabb (fifth - 1998) and Dwight Freeney (ninth - 2001).Â
An immediate impact transfer in his one-year in 'Cuse, McCord delivered three top-25 wins this season helping lead the team to No. 21 in the final College Football Playoff Ranking. He was a Second Team All-ACC honoree, behind Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward.
McCord led the Orange to a 9-3 mark and will look to give 'Cuse its third 10-win season since 2000 in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl vs. Washington State. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/Bowl.
