Woolley Leads #19 Syracuse to Road Win

Alaina Rice scored her 1,000th career point as No. 19 Syracuse (21-4, 11-3 ACC) beat Miami (16-8, 6-7 ACC), 71-60, Thursday night in Coral Gables, Fla.

The graduate guard had nine points in the win, including a layup in the sixth minute of the third quarter to hit the career milestone. Syracuse earned its fifth ACC road win tonight, making it their first time since the 2018-19 season SU won at least five games on the road.

Junior guard Georgia Woolley scored a season-high 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Fifth-year guard Dyaisha Fair (11 points) and freshman forward Alyssa Latham (10 points) also scored double figures for the Orange. Woolley and Fair both paced Syracuse with five assists apiece.

Rice's nine points brought her career total to 1,003, with 608 of those coming in a 'Cuse uniform. Rice also led the Orange in rebounds against Miami, grabbing seven off the glass. Fair, Latham and junior Kyra Wood each grabbed six boards, marking the second consecutive game Syracuse had four players with at least six.

Shayeann Day-Wilson led the host Hurricanes with 11 points.

Wood opened the scoring 14 seconds into the ballgame with a layup and never looked back, as the SU never trailed. The Orange would continue to build their advantage, leading by six at the end of the first quarter, 22-16. Syracuse led by as much as 17 in the game (53-36), thanks to a 15-8 third quarter that saw Miami shoot 2-for-15 from the field.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Syracuse earned its fifth ACC road victory of the season over Miami, adding to their wins against Wake Forest, Pitt, No. 15 Notre Dame and Boston College. The Orange are one win behind their conference road win total from 2018-19. Syracuse has two more ACC road games this season against Virginia (Feb. 18) and NC State (Feb. 29).
