#19 Orange Travel to Charlottesville Sunday

No. 19 Syracuse basketball (21-4, 11-3 ACC) heads to Charlottesville, Va., to face Virginia (12-12, 4-9 ACC) on Sunday, Feb. 18, inside John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on ACC Network with Jay Alter '16 and Kelly Gramlich on the call.
The Orange are coming off a 71-60 victory at Miami Thursday night. Junior guard Georgia Woolley scored a season-high 24 points in the win, while graduate guard Alaina Rice scored her 1,000th career point, joining Woolley as the second Orange player to hit 1,000 career points this season. SU led from the opening basket and never trailed. Syracuse built a 17-point lead, but the Hurricanes were able to cut it to five in the fourth quarter. Two big three-pointers by Dyaisha Fair held off three late Miami run as Syracuse earned its 11th ACC win of the season. The Orange have won four-straight games and are seeking their sixth ACC road win on Sunday.
Virginia had its bye this Thursday and have not played since a win versus Wake Forest last Sunday. The Cavaliers won, 87-79, behind a 23-point performance from Kymora Johnson and a 22-point showing from Olivia McGhee. Johnson, a freshman guard from Charlottesville, Va., leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game. She's a strong defensive player for the Hoos with 40 steals on the season.
Sunday marks the 16th matchup for the Orange and the Cavaliers, last competing against each other on Jan. 26, 2023. 'Cuse was victorious, 90-72, inside the JMA Wireless Dome in a game that Dyaisha Fair tied a then-program record eight threes and had a season-high 36 points.
SU leads the all-time series, 10-5, including winning eight of the last 10 matchups. The last UVA win in the series was Feb. 2, 2020, in Charlottesville. Syracuse is 2-3 all time on the road against the Cavaliers.
