
Hayles wins ACC title

Jaheem Hayles won the ACC Championship in the 60-meter hurdles to highlight the final day of the conference championship meet.
Hayles ran a season-best time of 7.65 seconds to win the title, beating Clemson's Jevon Williams by 0.19 seconds. Anthony Vazquez earned Second Team All-ACC accolades with a fifth-place finish in the event (7.95 seconds), while Emanuel Joseph (8.02 seconds) and Naseem Smith (8.08 seconds) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, to add to the scoring.
Taleea Buxton set a personal best in the women's event, taking fifth to earn All-ACC honors in her first ACC Championships. She crossed the line in 8.38 seconds.
Trei Thorogood took fourth in the 200-meter dash. His time of 21.13 seconds earned him Second Team All-ACC honors. Clemson's Cameron Rose won the race in 20.85.
Savannah Roark PRed in the 3,000-meter run, taking fifth and earning Second Team All-ACC plaudits. She finished in 9:07.22. Notre Dame's Olivia Markezich won the title. Rylie Lusk (9:31.50) was 16th, while Beatriz Fernandes (9:53.84) and Baneet Bains (9:54.38) were 34th and 35th.
Benne Anderson was the top freshman in the men's mile, taking eighth. He finished with a time of 4:00.94. North Carolina's Parker Wolfe set an ACC record in 3:54.17 for the event win.
Perry Mackinnon was 20th in the men's 3,000. He posted a time of 8:01.82. Alex Comerford was three spots behind in a personal-best time of 8:03.48, followed by a PR from Sam Lawler (8:07.27) in 25th, Paul O'Donnell (8:08.24) in 26th, and a PR from Silas Derfel (8:10.22) in 28th.
On the team side, the 'Cuse men took 10th with 26 points, while the women collected 10 points. North Carolina won the men's title, while Virginia Tech claimed the women's championship.
