Orange Set For N.C. Road Swing

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team (7-2, 2-1) heads southbound to continue ACC play with their first road conference matches of the season. The Orange start with a matchup against No. 18 Duke (6-4, 0-2) on Friday, March 1, at 6 p.m., followed by a contest versus No. 4 North Carolina (9-2, 2-0) on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m. to round out the weekend.

Both outings will mark the 14th all-time meeting between the programs. Syracuse has faced Duke and North Carolina 13 times each in the program's history. Duke remains unbeaten in this series, with their last victory taking place on Mar. 24, 2023, as they topped the Orange 6-1. North Carolina also holds an undefeated record against the Orange, with their last match resulting in a 6-1 win for the Tar Heels on Mar. 26, 2023.

Duke is coming off a 6-1 loss against Florida State. The duo of Iuliia Bryzgalova and Brianna Shvets earned the sole doubles victory for the Blue Devils. Shvets then went on to pick up the lone singles win of the affair for Duke. North Carolina was most recently in action against Miami, picking up a 4-3 win this past Sunday. The Tar Heels took a clean sweep in doubles with Elizabeth Scotty and Carson Tanguilig leading the charge in the number one spot. Tanguilig, Reilly Tran and Thea Rabman picked up singles points to put the Tar Heels ahead of the Hurricanes.

Syracuse earned its second ACC victory of the season in a 4-3 win against Clemson last Friday. Emilie Elde, Miyuka Kimoto, Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Polina Kozyreva earned singles victories that propelled the Orange atop the Tigers. Syracuse was handed their first at-home loss of the season in a tight match against Georgia Tech. Shiori Ito and Kimoto gave the Orange their sole doubles win of the day. Kanapatskaya, Kimoto and Ito all found success in the singles event.

Following Sunday's match, 'Cuse will return home for a contest with University at Buffalo on Thursday, March 3, at 3 p.m. inside Drumlins Country Club.
