
Nine PRs Set on Friday

Nine members of the Orange track and field teams set new personal-best times in their respective events at a pair of meets on Friday.
'Cuse was at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, where Rylie Lusk led the way in the 3,000-meter run with a new personal-best time of 9:20.74, which earned her 43rd overall (21st among collegians). Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (9:29.64) and Baneet Baines (9:39.65) also PRed in the event. Bethany Steiner completed in the early action of the event, setting a new PR in 10:00.25.
Justus Holden-Betts set a new career best in the mile, crossing the line in 4:52.05. Caroline Kirby ran to a time of 4:53.28, followed by Leah Futey in 5:18.49.
Siobhan O'Keefe set a personal best in the first section of the 5,000-meter run, finishing sixth in 16:54.24. Madeline Heintz (17:00.02) also PRed and was two spots back. Olivia Joly ran to a time of 17:32.32 in the 5,000-meter dash to end day one in Boston.Â
At Clemson, Shaleah Colaire set a new personal-best time of 8.37 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 19th. Taleea Buxton also qualified for the semifinals with a time of 8.42 seconds, but did not compete in that round.
Jaheem Hayles took 10th in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.82 seconds. He was four hundredths of a second faster in his prelim race on Friday. Isaiah Lewis (8.12 seconds) and Naseem Smith (8.14 seconds) were 29th and 32nd, respectively.
Trei Thorogood took 12th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.68 seconds. Kahniya James posted a time of 7.69 seconds in women's event.
Elijah Mallard concluded the afternoon with a new personal-best time of 47.94 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
Action at both meets will continue on Saturday.
