CHANTILLY, Va. – The No. 6/6 Syracuse men's lacrosse team held No. 20/20 Delaware (3-3) to just one goal over the final 42 minutes of action and powered to a 14-6 victory in Chantilly, Va. at Luke McGuire Stadium.

The Syracuse (7-2) offense was led by Owen Hiltz, who was one goal shy of his career-best scoring effort with six goals in the affair. He added one assist to achieve season-highs in goals and points. Joey Spallina dished out a game-leading four assists and tallied one goal. Christian Mulé (2g, 1a), Sam English (1g, 1a), Jake Stevens (2a) and Saam Olexo (1g, 1a) each contributed multi-point performances.

Will Mark was a force in the cage, stopping a season-best 17 shots and allowing just six goals. With his performance today, Mark has 813 saves over his collegiate career and is the 15th goalkeeper in Division I history to have 800-or-more career saves.

How it Happened
- The Blue Hens put the first point on the board 3:17 into the contest after a solo goal from Hank D'Ambrogi.
- Hiltz netted one off a dish from Spallina and Mulé scored a goal on his own to give Syracuse a 2-1 advantage with 8:16 to go in the first quarter.
- Delaware pushed to a 4-2 lead with 1:23 to go in the first quarter after three-straight goals for its largest lead of the game. John McCurry and Aidan Fritz each contributed one goal while Cam Acchione scored one and assisted one during the run.
- Finn Thomson scored off a feed from Mulé with 17 seconds left in the first period to bring the Orange within one of the Blue Hens. Hiltz got an extra man goal to even the score at 4-4 with 13:26 left in the second quarter.
- After Delaware's Acchione scored one at the 11:50 mark in the second quarter, Syracuse held the Blue Hens to just one goal for the remainder of the contest.
- The Orange scored seven unanswered goals from 7:30 in the second quarter to 12:36 in the fourth and stormed to an 11-5 lead. Seven different Syracuse players scored over the seven-goal stretch: Billy Dwan, Mulé, Olexo, Michael Leo, Hiltz, Spallina and English.
- Tyler Owings scored Delaware's final goal of the game with 10:43 left on the clock.
- Hiltz closed out the game with three consecutive goals, including two from extra-man opportunities.
Behind the Numbers
- The 30:07-span that the Orange held the Blue Hens without a goal was the largest scoring drought for a Syracuse opponent this season.
- Syracuse improved to 77-straight wins when holding opponents to under 10 goals.
- The Orange strung together a seven-goal run in a game for the fourth time this season.
- With the win today, the Orange now have back-to-back wins over ranked opponents. Syracuse last beat ranked opponents consecutively in April 2023, when it defeated No. 14 Princeton and No. 12 North Carolina.
