The outdoor season kicked off for the Syracuse track and field teams at the FSU Relays on Friday.
Elijah Mallard won the 400-meter hurdles by nearly two seconds in a time of 52.55 seconds, earning the lone event win of the day for the Orange.
Trei Thorogood was fourth in the men's 200-meter dash in a time of 21.07 seconds, he also ran to a fifth-place finish in the 100 (10.66 seconds). James Nmah (22.50) was 20th in the 200.
Alexander Segarra also turned in a top-five finish in the 800-meters, crossing the line in 1:53.54, giving him fourth.
Anthony Vazquez led the way in the 110-meter hurdles, placing fifth (14.26 seconds). Isaiah Lewis (14.48 seconds), Naseem Smith (14.51 seconds) and Emanuel Joseph (14.70 seconds), were seventh through ninth.
Shaleah Colaire finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.18 seconds, one spot ahead of Peyton Rollins, who set a new PR of 14.19 seconds.
Colaire also raced in the 400-meter hurdles, taking seventh (1:01.97).
Rollins later took 15th in the 200 with a time of 25.44 seconds.
Kaleia Arrington was 14th in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.39 seconds.
The event was shortened due to inclement weather. Action ramps up next weekend for Syracuse in four separate events.
