
'Cuse Races Across 4 Meets

It was the busiest racing day of the year for the Syracuse track and field teams. Members of the Orange split up to race in four different meets across the country.
Savannah Roark crossed the line in 32:50.56 in the women's 10,000-meter run, which was seventh in her section of racing. Rylie Lusk was less than a half second back, while competing unattached. Ellie Lawler (33:46.05) was third in the second section of the event.
In the men's event, Perry Mackinnon posted a time of 28:24.38, which was 20th in the top section of the event. Paul O'Donnell (29:00.04) took 29th. Sam Lawler had a strong showing out of the second section, leading the way among Orange runners with a time of 28:43.99, taking seventh. Alex Comerford (29:07.79) and Silas Derfel (29:07.85) finished 20th and 21st, respectively. Assaf Harari (30:01.21) also raced.
Benne Anderson raced to a time of 13:59.73 in the 5,000-meter run, while teammate Connor Ackley was fourth in his section of the 5k, finishing in 14:04.07.
At the Texas Relays, Jaheem Hayles qualified to Saturday's final of the 110-meter hurdles. He won his heat in 13.65 seconds to advance. Naseem Smith (14.10 seconds) and Anthony Vazquez (14.28 seconds) also competed.
Trei Thorogood set what would have been a PR in legal wind in the 100-meter dash. He finished in 10.32 seconds, but with 3.5 m/s of wind.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Kaleia Arrington, Kitana Burgard, Olivia Garner and Kahniya James got the day started strong with a second-place finish. The group finished in 46.17 seconds.
The men's relay team of James Nmah, Jaheem Hayles, Anthony Vazquez and Trei Thorogood finished with a time of 40.78 seconds.
Shaleah Colaire (13.48 seconds) was 17th in the 100-meter hurdles, followed by teammate Taleea Buxton (13.95) in 31st.
Burgard also raced in the 100 in addition to the relay. She took 28th in 11.50 seconds.
In Raleigh, Madison Neuner took fourth and set a new personal best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished in 10:09.59, which was third among attached runners.
Olivia Joly set a PR in the 5k (16:51.38). Caroline Kirby also raced in the event (17:22.90).
Siobhan O'Keefe raced in the 10,000-meter run, where she posted a tie of 34:50.30
At the Bobcat Invite, Shaleah Colaire was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 1:00.55. In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Xayvion Perkins posted a time of 52.47 seconds to take third.
Thorogood (20.88) took seventh in the 200-meter dash as well.
Racing concludes on Saturday with Hayles' 110-meter hurdles final.
