Syracuse Defeated at No. 4 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Syracuse women's tennis team rounded out their weekend road swing with a 7-0 loss to No. 4 North Carolina (11-2, 4-0 ACC) on Sunday afternoon in the Chewning Tennis Center. 'Cuse moves to 7-4 on the season and 2-3 in ACC action.

In the doubles event, Shiori Ito and Constance Levivier dropped their match in the number three spot to Thea Rabman and Reilly Tran, 6-0. The Tar Heels took the doubles point after Tatum Evans and Abbey Forbes defeated Emilie Elde and Anastasia Sysoeva in the number two spot, 6-3. With Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig ahead, 5-3, against Polina Kozyreva and Miyuka Kimoto in the number one spot, the squads moved onto the singles event.

The first singles point was won by Crawley in the number one spot against Elde, 6-1, 6-1. The number six spot was next to finish up as Rabman defeated Levivier, 6-4, 6-2. Evans secured the match for North Carolina as she beat Sysoeva, 6-2, 6-2, in the number four spot. Kozyreva was bested in her match against Tran in the number three spot, 6-4, 6-0. Ito followed with a loss to Forbes in the number five spot, 6-4, 6-2. Kimoto battled with Tanguilig in a match that went the distance, but ultimately fell short, 2-6, 6-2, [10-4], in the number two spot.

The Orange return home for its final nonconference match of the season against University at Buffalo on Thursday, March 7, at 3 p.m. in Drumlin's Country Club. The match will have live results available and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
