Orange Earn Victory In Nonconference Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team rounded out the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 6-1 victory against University at Buffalo on Thursday evening inside Drumlin's Country Club.

In the doubles event, the duo of Miyuka Kimoto and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya kicked off the contest with a sweep of Ambre Amat and Esmee Andresen in the number one spot, 6-0. The pairing of Anastasia Sysoeva and Constance Levivier secured the doubles point for the Orange after taking down Azra Deniz Comlek and Laura Koralnik, 6-4, in the number two spot. Shiori Ito and Emilie Elde led the match, 5-3, in the number three spot against Jagmeet Kaur and Deanne Choo before the squads moved on to the singles event.

Singles action started with a victory by Kimoto against Comlek in the number one spot, 6-2, 6-2. Ines Fonte followed that up with a win versus Andresen in the number five spot, 6-1, 6-3. Sysoeva clinched the fourth 'Cuse point and match victory by defeating Amat, 6-3, 6-2, in the number four spot. Mariana Carvajal Torres snagged the sole point of the match for the Bulls in the number six spot against Levivier, 6-2, 7-5.

After dropping the first set, Elde came back in the latter two sets to take down Kaur in the number two spot, 2-6, 6-2, 10-6. Kanapatskaya battled with Koralnik in the number three spot. Each side took one of the first two sets, 6-2. In the tiebreaker, Kanapatskaya outlasted her opponent, 10-8, and gave the Orange their sixth point of the match.

Syracuse will finish out the remainder of the regular season against ACC opponents. The Orange are set to host No. 6 NC State on Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in Drumlin's Country Club, followed by a matchup with Wake Forest on Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m.
