
Starling Named To ACC All-Academic Team

Syracuse sophomore J.J. Starling has been named to the ACC All-Academic Men's Basketball Team according to the conference.
Starling is one of 69 student-athletes, including at least one from each of the 15 ACC schools that sponsor men's basketball, to earn the recognition.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.Â
After spending his freshman year at Notre Dame, Starling transferred to Syracuse prior to the 2023 fall semester. He is majoring in Communications and Rhetorical Studies in the College of Visual and Performaing Arts at Syracuse.
He was one of three players who started all 32 games at Syracuse in 2023-24. Starling finished the campaign ranked second on the club in scoring average (13.3 ppg.) and 3-pointers (44). His 34.4 minutes played average led all Orange peformers. He scored in double digits in 23-of-32 contests and topped 20 points 16 times. He posted a career-high 26 points in a Syracuse victory against eventual Final Four participant N.C. State.
