Syracuse Tennis Sweeps Louisville On Senior Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team earned an ideal finish to the regular season as the Orange swept Louisville on Senior Day, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at Drumlin's Country Club.

Syracuse (10-10, 4-9 ACC) started off strong by claiming the doubles point. The duo of Constance Levivier and Anastasia Sysoeva took down the Louisville (4-15, 0-10) pairing of Berta Miret and Elena Noguero in the number two spot, 6-3. Emilie Elde and Shiori Ito dropped their match against Ibifuro Clement and Germany Davis, 6-3, in the number three spot. It came down to the number one spot, where Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Miyuka Kimoto bested Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina, 6-2, and secured the doubles point for the Orange.

Kimoto kicked things off in the singles event with a win against Peresypkina in the number one spot, 6-1, 6-0. Polina Kozyreva followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the number five spot against Gretkowski. Ito sealed the match win for 'Cuse by defeating Clement in the number six spot, 6-3, 6-3. Sysoeva finished shortly thereafter, beating Miret in the number four spot, 6-4, 4-1. Sysoeva's match ended prematurely as Miret medically retired the contest.

Kanapatskaya grabbed a match win in the number three spot against Germany Davis, 6-1, 6-3. Elde closed out the competition and completed the sweep with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 victory in the number two spot against Lillian Mould.

The Orange have wrapped up their regular season slate and now await the ACC Tournament. The competition will be held in Cary, North Carolina, with the first round of matches beginning on Wednesday, April 17.
