THE GAME
- The ACC Tournament is back for men's lacrosse as the league's postseason returns for the first time since 2019.
- Syracuse and Duke meet for a second time this season for yet another top-10 showdown on the 'Cuse slate as the Orange return to Charlotte, North Carolina for a second time this year.
- Game time is set for 8 p.m. on ACC Network, following the first ACC Tournament Semifinal between No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 5 Virginia at 5 p.m.
- Anish Shroff '04 and Matt Ward will have the call for ACC Network, with Marilyn Payne reporting
- Tim Leonard (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly (analyst) take to the airwaves on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER. Tyler Aitken and Austin Barach are on-air for WAER this week.
- Syracuse is coming off a bye week, last playing on April 20 and topping then fourth-ranked Virginia 18-17 in an instant, come-from-behind classic at the JMA Wireless Dome.Â
THE DUKE SERIES
- Dating back to the 1938 season, Syracuse and Duke meet for 25th time overall and for fourth time in the ACC Tournament.
- The Orange hold a 3-0 record against the Blue Devils in the ACC Tournament, besting Duke 16-15 in Syracuse's first-ever ACC Tournament game in 2014. The next two seasons, Syracuse beat the Blue Devils in the Championship game to hoist the trophy.
- These two teams have not met in the ACC Tournament since the 2016 title game, a 14-8 Orange win in Georgia.
- Syracuse held Duke to just four goals in the first meeting back in March, the fewest goals ever surrendered by  the Orange in a conference game and Duke's fewest in a league game since 2012.
- All-time, the Orange hold a 15-9 series lead, including a 6-2 mark in neutral-site meetings.
- Friday's semifinal showdown will be the first time Syracuse and Duke meet in a North Carolina city besides Durham. It is also the first neutral site meeting since aforementioned 2016 ACC Tournament in Kennesaw, Georgia.
A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD...
- Advance Syracuse to the ACC Tournament Championship game for the first time since the Orange defended their league title in 2016.
- See the Orange beat Duke in back-to-back meetings since winning four straight in late 2016 to Mary 2019.
- Be Syracuse's sixth win all-time at the ACC Tournament and fourth semifinal win.
- Be the 12th win of the season for Syracuse, the first year with at least 11 wins since going 13-3 in 2017.
- Log the sixth win this season the Orange over a team ranked in that week's USILA Coaches Poll and would be the fourth top-five win for Syracuse this season.
- Be the 948th win all-time in program history, second-most among Division I programs.
SECOND HALF TEAM
- That 10 minute break in the middle of games has been kind to the Orange, allowing the coaching staff to make adjustments.
- On the offensive side of the ball, Syracuse scores 7.80 goals per game in the first half, which ranks second in the ACC and ranks ninth among the top 15 scoring offenses this week.
- Defensively, it's similar for the Orange. Syracuse allows 5.40 goals per game in the opening half and drops that number to 4.73 per game in the second half, the best second-half goals allowed per game among ACC teams by nearly a quarter of a goal per second half over Duke (5.00)
- In its four ACC games this year, Syracuse has allowed just 19 total goals in the second half, two against Duke, another four against Notre Dame, and five against UNC with eight against Virginia's potent offense.
