
Orange Add Taylor To Hoop Roster

Lucas Taylor, a 6-5, 200 guard who played for Georgia State last season, has announced his transfer to Syracuse. A native of Raleigh, N.C., Taylor spent two seasons at Wake Forest before joining the Panther program prior to the 2023-24 campaign.
PLAYING WITH THE PANTHERS
He had a productive 2023-24 campaign at Georgia State, starting 31-of-32 contests, and producing a squad-best 14.5 points per game. Taylor ranked ninth in scoring average in the Sun Belt Conference. He scored in double digits 24 times and topped 20 points in seven matchups, including a season-high 28 points versus Georgia Southern. Taylor converted .346 of his 3-point attempts and shot .785 from the foul line. He averaged 30.8 minutes played per outing. Georgia State was 14-17 overall and 8-10 in the Sun Belt.
ENROLLED WITH THE DEMON DEACONS
Taylor began his collegiate career at Wake Forest. He saw action in 15 contests as a freshman and 12 as a sophomore. His second season also included four outings with the first string. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds a game in 2022-23. The Demon Deacons were 25-10 and 19-14 in Taylor's two years.
TAYLOR AT HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL
He earned North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (NCBCA) All-District following his junior season, a year in which he averaged 21.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per outing. As a senior, Taylor produced 27.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game for the Huskies. He received NCBCA All-State recognition and was selected for the Carolinas Classic, an all-star exhibition between the top graduating seniors in North Carolina vs. a squad from South Carolina. Heritage was the state runner-up in Taylor's freshman year and won the conference championship twice during his tenure.
Taylor was rated a three-star prospect, the seventh-best prospect in North Carolina and 38th-best shooting guard nationally by 247Sports.
