- Friday is Military Appreciation Day as the Orange honor a hometown hero at halftime of the Northeastern game. Sunday's 1 p.m. game against Lafayette is Youth & High School Day at J.S. Coyne Stadium as well as an Otto's Kids Club event.
- Syracuse and Northeastern duel for the first time since the 2010 campaign while the Orange look to take on Lafayette after last season's game in Easton, Pennsylvania was canceled due to heavy storms in the area.
- This weekend's pair of games will be the last time the Orange play at J.S. Coyne Stadium this month as Syracuse heads south for the next two weekends, including three games in Central North Carolina at UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest.
Knocked Down? Get Right Back Up
- Syracuse suffered its first loss of the season against No. 14 Ohio State last weekend, a 5-0 decision at home.
- The Orange do not suffer setbacks like that often. Since joining the ACC in 2013, Syracuse has lost games by a 3-0 count or more just five times.
- After those losses, Syracuse has responded very well, winning the next game three times in the four previous chances.
- The only time Syracuse did not bounce back after a 3-0 or worse loss was in 2014. After falling 3-0 at No. 1 North Carolina, Syracuse fell in overtime 3-2 against Boston College the next week.
- Last season, Syracuse dropped a 4-0 game at No. 9 Duke before returning two days later to J.S. Coyne Stadium and piling up a 6-2 win over Wagner.

We Have That in Common: Northeastern
- There are three familiar opponents on the schedules between Syracuse and Northeastern and all hail from the ACC.
- The Huskies have already played all three, leading off at cross-town rival Boston College, a 3-1 setback for Northeastern.
- The Huskies then made the cross-country trip to duel with a pair of ACC newcomers. Northeastern split the results with a loss at Cal and a win at Stanford.
- In a unique twist, Northeastern played all three of those ACC opponents away from home while the Orange will host all three at J.S. Coyne Stadium through mid-October to the first weekend of November.
