
Kimoto, Ito Ranked In ITA Preseason Rankings

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seniors Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito have both been tabbed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings. The ITA released both a singles and doubles ranking prior to the start of the fall tennis season.
Kimoto checked in at No. 24 in the singles rankings. She finished last season ranked No. 50 in the ITA singles rankings after a 10-8 spring at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. Kimoto defeated three top 30 ranked conference opponents in singles, including Amelia Rajecki from North Carolina State, who was the No. 3 ranked singles player in the country at the time. Kimoto also advanced to the round of 32 in singles at May's NCAA Tournament.
In doubles, Kimoto and Ito were tabbed No. 40 in the rankings. The tandem played together three times last spring, going 2-0 in completed contests. They won one ACC match against Georgia Tech at the No. 2 spot. Overall, Kimoto went 11-4 in doubles last season, while Ito picked up six victories.
