Syracuse Falls at #13 Georgia Tech

Georgia Woolley posted 22 points, but the Syracuse women's basketball team (6-7, 0-2 ACC) fell to No. 13 Georgia Tech (15-0, 3-0 ACC), 85-68, in its first game of 2025 at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Syracuse jumped out to an early lead over the Yellow Jackets with a 10-1 run to open the game, but the home team responded by outscoring the Orange 15-6 over the final seven minutes of the first quarter, tying the contest at 16 heading into the second frame.
Georgia Tech took its first lead of the game at the start of the second quarter and used a 28-15 scoring advantage in the frame to build a 44-31 lead heading into halftime.
'Cuse kept things close in the third quarter, being outscored by just one point, but Georgia Tech maintained a 65-51 lead heading into the final quarter of regulation.
An 11-0 run highlighted the Orange's fourth-quarter effort, but it wasn't enough as they fell 85-68.
GEORGIA GETS HOT EARLY
Georgia Woolley started the contest strong with 16 points in the first half, finishing with a game-high 22 to lead the Orange. It was her second 20-point performance of the season and the seventh time she has been the team's leading scorer.
The senior was also effective in other aspects of the game for 'Cuse, tallying a season-best eight rebounds along with three assists.
OF NOTE
The Orange will continue to Florida for a matchup with the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday, Jan. 5. The game will tipoff at 2 p.m. on ACC Network.

- Kyra Wood delivered a strong performance despite early foul trouble, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. The senior has now reached double figures in scoring in seven games this season.
- Angelica Velez provided a spark off the bench for the Orange, adding eight points and four assists in 15 minutes.
- Sophie Burrows matched a season-best in rebounds with eight in the loss. She also added six points and two assists.
- 'Cuse finished the night shooting 87 percent at the free throw stripe, its third performance of the season shooting at least 80 percent at the foul line.
- The Orange grabbed 42 rebounds in the loss, just one fewer than the Yellow Jackets. Syracuse's 22 defensive boards limited Georgia Tech to only nine second-chance points.
- Syracuse moves to 6-7 on the season.
- The Orange are now 6-7 in the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets.
