
Orange Fall to Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH-Â The Orange men's soccer team (6-5-2, 3-3-0) fell 4-2 to Pittsburgh (5-6-3, 1-4-1). Goals Chimere Omeze and Michael Acquah put the Orange up on the board but were not enough to prevail over the Panthers.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Pittsburgh struck early taking a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute after a successful penalty kick by the Panthers' Arnau Vilamitjana.Â
The Orange were quick to even the score as Chimere Omeze put the ball past Pittsburgh goalkeeper Jack Moxom in the 15th minute. Ernest Mensah Jr. Took the corner kick in the top left corner of the field, finding Kristjan Fortier who snuck it over to Omeze to record his third goal of the season.Â
Niklas Sorensen passed the ball down the field to Albert Thorsen who found the net in the 33rd minute to give Pittsburgh the edge over 'Cuse going into the half.Â
Coming back from the break, Vilamitjana tallied his second goal of the night in the 48th minute. Grayson Carter and Albert Thorsen were credited with the assists as Vilamitjana was set up to arc the ball up into the net.Â
'Cuse didn't hesitate to answer back as Michael Acquah put one up for Syracuse. His first goal in an Orange kilt was assisted by Landon Darko in the 50th minute.Â
A Pittsburgh freekick just outside the box allowed for the Panthers to increase their lead in the 67th minute. The kick, taken by Vilamitjana, was headed by Sorsen to set Logan Oliver up for the goal to seal the victory.Â

OF NOTEÂ
- The Orange were outshot by Pittsburgh 21-11, with Syracuse shooting five on target.
- Pittsburgh took five corner kicks throughout the game compared to the Orange's two.Â
- Goalkeeper Tomas Hut tallied six saves.Â
UP NEXTÂ
The Orange will continue their stride on the road to face Central New York foe Cornell in Ithaca, New York. The match is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. at Berman Field on Tuesday Oct. 21.Â
