
Orange Post Top-10 Finishes at Paul Short Run

The Syracuse cross country teams delivered solid performances Friday at the 51st annual Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with both squads securing top-10 finishes at one of the nation's premier meets.
The No. 11 Orange men placed ninth out of 40 schools in the competitive Gold Race 8k, while the women's team impressed with a fifth-place finish out of 39 teams in the Brown Race 6k.
Sam Ricchiuti (23:50.3) paced the Orange men, crossing the line in 28th place. Fellow Drew Zundell (23:51.7) followed closely behind in 30th to give Syracuse two runners in the top 30. Ruben Rojas Betanzos (24:11.4) finished in 61st place. Eamon Burke (24:15.4) and redshirt freshman Asher Danielson (24:16.7) rounded out the scoring, finishing 74th and 75th, respectively. Omar Alsaidi (24:20.2) also competed for the Orange.
The women's squad were led by Beatriz Fernandes (21:36.8), who led the way with a 23rd-place finish. Sarah Lawson (21:45.4) placed 29th, followed by Mackenzie Cook (21:54.0) in 37th. Lauren Augustyn (22:02.9) and Grace Finnegan (22:32.1) completed the scoring, capturing 47th and 83rd, respectively. Alycia Hart (23:17.0) also represented the Orange.
The Orange will have next weekend off, before splitting the team to compete in a pair of meets on Oct. 17. Some members of the squad will compete in Wisconsin at the Nuttycombe Invitational, while others will race in the Princeton Fall Classic.
