
Orange to Play in UB Invite

The Syracuse women's tennis team is headed to Buffalo, New York to compete in their final regular season tournament, the UB Indoor Invite. The tournament is set to begin on Friday Oct. 31 and conclude on Saturday Nov. 1.
Haram Kim, Constance Levivier and Nelly Knezkova will represent the Orange this weekend.

The Format
The tournament will be hosted by University at Buffalo. On Friday, Syracuse will compete in a mix of both singles and doubles matches against St. John's at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Syracuse will face St. John's in doubles at 3:30 p.m., before singles play against Buffalo at 4:15 p.m.

About the Orange
Syracuse welcomes back a familiar squad, with six of last year's players returning to the court. Sophomore Monika Wojcik led the team last year with 12 singles victories and 11 doubles wins. She collected a 5-1 ACC record in singles in her freshman year.

Serafima Shastova returns for her second season at Syracuse. In her sophomore season, she had 12 wins in the singles column. Partnered with Wojcick, the duo had eight wins together.

Junior Nelly Knezkova followed up with 10 singles wins on the season and seven doubles. She played at top spot in seven singles matches last season and on the first court for doubles in 15 matchups.

Haram Kim is entering her sophomore year with the Orange. She collected two wins in her first season at the sixth spot, defeating her opponents from Fordham in a 7-5, 6-3 match and Drexel 6-4, 6-2.

Constance Levivier is going into her senior season and her third year with the Orange. Levivier held four singles wins, including two at the fourth singles spot.

Senior Anastasia Sysoeva is back after appearing in 19 matches last season in both singles and doubles play. In doubles action, she collected nine wins, six of which were at the second court.

Last Time Out
The Orange competed at ITA New England Regionals earlier this month.
Syracuse started off strong on the first day as both Monika Wojcik and Constance Levivier dominated singles play, earning two wins each in the qualifying draw.
On the second day, Levivier shined in the singles bracket, defeating New Haven's Valentinna Ferrarini 6-0, 6-3. Wojcik and Haram Kim put up a tough fight in singles play, but Wojcik fell to Ella Platenikova of Connecticut 6-4, 6-0, and Kim dropped her match against Brown's Hannah Shen 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, respectively.
After an impressive appearance, Levivier ended her play in the singles column where she fell to 7-5, 6-2 to Gabriella Mikaul of Boston.

The Orange duo of Nelly Knezkova and Anastasia Sysoeva continued to excel, reaching the final round. The doubles team ultimately fell to Yale in a tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-1,10-5

Serafima Shastova earned the ITA Regional Finalist title in singles after her strong performance throughout the weekend and in the championship round. She was able to punch a ticket to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship in Orlando, Florida starting on Tuesday Nov. 18.
