From the Start
- It's time for the West Coast Road Swing as the Orange make their first trek out to the Golden State for the first time in ACC play.
- Fifth-ranked Syracuse takes on Stanford Friday night with a 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET start on ACC Network Extra, followed by a 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET showdown on Sunday with Cal.
- The Orange make their first cross-country trek since the 2019 season and this marks the first time Syracuse will play at both Stanford and Cal as ACC opponents.
- The well-rested Orange are coming off of a 5-1 Senior Day win over Colgate on Friday before a rare Sunday off from external competition (though Syracuse has an off-Sunday again next week following the North Carolina match at Coyne).
- Syracuse currently sits in fifth in the ACC standings at 1-2, leading Stanford in sixth (1-3) and California (0-3) in a tie with Boston College in the precarious eighth spot.
- The Orange remained in the number five spot in the week's NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, the fifth-straight week Syracuse has been inside the top 10, the most top-10 weeks since five during the 2021 campaign.
With a Win Friday Syracuse Would...
- Improve to 5-0 away from J.S. Coyne Stadium this season, sitting at 3-0 in true road games with a 1-0 neutral site record thanks to the win over Rutgers.
- Collect its sixth-straight win in a true road environment dating back to a 7-2 win at Bucknell last season.
- Win its third straight over the Cardinal and its first in Stanford, California since a 2-1 overtime win on Sept. 1, 2018.
- Pick up its 26th win all-time against a California-based program while improving to 11-1-0 in true road games in California.
- Win its first game on the road in almost a month, dating to a 5-2 decision at Lafayette. Syracuse has played its last five games at home over the past three weeks.
Nothing But Apples
- Pati Strunk must have been raised under an apple tree because all she's done this season is hand out assists.
- The senior leads the Orange with 17 assists so far in 2025, benefiting greatly from Syracuse's potent attacking penalty corner unit.Â
- The Hamburg, Germany native is one of two players in the ACC with double-digit assists in 2025, leading Wake's Mia Montag by seven.
- Strunk is also the national leader in assists per game, averaging a whopping 1.55 assists per game. Appalachian State's Lise Boekaar is second in Division I with 1.45 assists per game.
- The back is already tied for the third-most assists in program history for a single season, locking with Lieke Visser (2014), Matina Loncarica (2009) and Shannon Taylor (2008).
East Coast Meets West Coast
- The Orange head west for the first time to tackle a pair of ACC opponents: Stanford and California.
- The Golden State teams are in their second season as members of the ACC as teams begin their cycle of heading out west.
- Like the miners, Syracuse has found success in California, sporting a 25-3-0 all-time record against teams from California: Stanford (11-1), Pacific (6-1), Cal (6-1), and UC Davis (2-0).Â
