- The road trip continues for Syracuse as the Orange head to University Park, Pennslyvania, this weekend to face the #6 Penn State Nittany Lions.
- 'Cuse is looking to continue its strong conference play against the Nittany Lions. The Orange are 4-2-0 against conference foes so far this season and sit in third place in the conference standings.
- The Orange have had a strong road presence this season starting 6-2-0 as the away team. The two setbacks came from #4 Cornell and Lindenwood.
- Friday's puck drop is set for 2 p.m. and Saturday's is at 1 p.m. both games will be hosted at Pegula Ice Arena and streamed on Big Ten+.
THE VETERAN AND FRESHMAN BALANCE
- The Orange have seen great production from both older and younger players, creating a balance essential to team success for the first third of the season.
- The freshmen have stepped up big time with Emma Gnade and Jordan Blouin leading the team in goals (4) on the year, Blouin is also tied for first in points (8) alongside sophomore Peyton Armstrong and Gnade one point behind with seven. In net freshman Ava Drabyk has proven dominant facing multiple top-10 opponents and holding a 2.43 GAAVG with 295 saves. She has earned two AHA Player of the Week Awards and is ranked top-5 in every major goaltender category in the AHA.
- The veterans have shown their leadership on the ice as returners. Sami Gendron, Jessica Cheung, and Celia Weigand lead the defense with 10 or more blocks on the year. Junior Nea Tervonen currently ranks 11th in the NCAA in faceoff wins with 124. Junior Jackson Kinsler and Tervonen round out the 'Cuse top-5 in points as they each have five so far this season.
- As the season goes on it'll be exciting to see the freshmen step up in big moments and for the veteran leadership to shine through for the remaining matches.
