Gnade Hat Trick Puts 'Cuse Past RPI 3-0

TROY, N.Y.- The Syracuse women's ice hockey team defeated RPI 3-0 to sweep its last nonconference opponent of the season. Freshman Emma Gnade scored her first career hat trick against the Engineers Saturday afternoon at Houston Field House.
The Orange improved to 8-10-2 after an undefeated weekend against Rensselaer. Syracuse's three goals and five assists add eight points for 'Cuse as they now head into conference play for the remainder of the season.Â
RPI falls to 4-15-0, as the Engineers put up a fight against the Orange. The Engineers won 23 of the 39 faceoffs in tonight's game while the defense blocked 10 Orange shots.Â
How It HappenedÂ
- Gnade struck early for Syracuse, scoring just 3:32 into the game. Jessica Cheung was credited with the assist, as the Orange led the Engineers 1-0.Â
- Gnade added another goal on the board in the third period off passes from Peyton Armstrong and Jocelyn Fiala with 13:14 on the clock.Â
- Gnade closed out the hat trick 16:38 into the final period, lighting up the lamp into the empty RPI net. Armstrong and Fiala had assists for the final goal of the game.Â

- Gnade's three-goal performance was the first natural hat trick scored since Bryn Saarela (Dec. 6, 2024) against Robert Morris.Â
- The Orange outshot RPI 28-17.
- SU blocked seven shots.Â
- Freshman goalkeeper Ava Drabyk tallied 17 saves, collecting her second career shutout.Â
