The 2025-26 Syracuse women's basketball season gets underway on Tuesday night when the Orange host Stony Brook at the JMA Wireless Dome. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be streamed live on ACCNXÂ through the ESPN App or Watch ESPN.Â
Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack enters her third season at the helm of her alma mater and has built this year's roster around lone returning starter Sophie Burrows. The Orange added eight newcomers this offseason including senior transfer Laila Phelia who had 17 points in last week's exhibition game against Daemen. Also new to the Orange lineup is Uche Izoje, who led the Orange in scoring in the lone preseason matchup with 19 points in her first game playing at the Dome.Â
Stony Brook enters the season under head coach Joy McCorvey following a 12-18 record in 2024-25. The Seawolves added transfers Diaka Berete (Jackson State), Sandra Frau-Garcia (Chicago-Illinois), Caitlin Frost (St. Bonaventure), Melissa Mwanza (Louisiana Tech) and Alonna Sellers (Central Connecticut) as well as four true freshmen. Stony Brook finished 7-11 in CAA play last year and was picked to finish 12th of 13 teams this season.Â
Tuesday night is the fifth meeting all-time between the two squads and third time the Orange and Seawolves will meet in the season opener in the last six years. Syracuse is 5-0 in the series, last defeating SBU, 79-56, at the JMA Dome.Â
