The Syracuse University women's basketball team (6-1) returns to the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday, Dec. 4, to host Auburn (8-1) at 5 p.m. in a nationally televised ACC/SEC Challenge matchup on ACC Network. The Orange look to extend their five-game home winning streak against a Tigers team they've never beaten.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a new/unopened toy to donate to Toys For Tots. Donation boxes will be located on the west exterior esplanade of the Dome (outside Gate C) prior to tip-off.Â
Wednesday's contest marks the first meeting between the two programs since 2004, with Auburn holding a 5-0 all-time advantage in the series. The game is part of the annual ACC/SEC Challenge, which Syracuse holds a 1-1 record in all-time having beat Alabama in 2023 at home and losing to Texas A&M on the road in 2024.
The Orange are coming off a 78-62 victory over Howard on Saturday, where four Orange scored in double figures including Uche Izoje who had a career-high 20 points. She added nine rebounds and seven assists becoming the first freshman in the country to put up that stat line since 2022 and the first Syracuse player to do so since 2020. For her efforts,Â
Syracuse's offensive attack has been led by the trio of Laila Phelia (13.3 ppg), Uche Izoje (12.4 ppg) and Dominique Darius (11.9 ppg), all averaging double figures on the season. Izoje delivered a historic performance against Howard, recording 20 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks to become the first freshman nationally to post those numbers since 2022.
Auburn enters Wednesday's matchup following a 53-58 loss to Oregon on November 30, the Tigers' only defeat of the season. First-year head coach Larry Vickers is in his first season at Auburn after 10 successful seasons as the head coach at his alma mater, Norfolk State.
Following Wednesday's game, Syracuse travels to Dallas for its ACC opener to face SMU on Saturday, December 7, at 3 p.m. on ACCNX.
