Syracuse women's basketball (8-1) welcomes in-state rival Colgate (4-4) to the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tip-off on ACC Network Extra, as the Orange look to extend their winning streak to four games.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to get in the holiday spirit and wear an ugly holiday sweater. At halftime, stick around for fans choice contest for the ugliest sweater. Make sure to stop by the marketing table to collect this week's player roster card, the 2025-26 team schedule poster and schedule magnets at Gate A, Gate C or Guest Services.Â
The Orange enter riding high after opening ACC play with an impressive 78-69 road victory at SMU this past Saturday. Sophomore guard Sophie Burrows exploded for a season-high 22 points, connecting on five three-pointers, while Laila Phelia added 19 points and Dominique Darius chipped in 13. The balanced scoring attack has become a hallmark of this Syracuse team, which has featured four players in double figures in three consecutive games.
Freshman sensation Uche Izoje continues to make waves in her debut season, earning back-to-back ACC Rookie of the Week honors. The 6-3 center leads the conference and ranks sixth nationally in blocks per game (3.11), while also averaging 11.9 points and 7.3 rebounds. Her eight-block performance against SMU showcased the defensive anchor Syracuse has found in the talented Nigerian.
History heavily favors the Orange in this matchup—Syracuse holds a perfect 16-0 record against Colgate and will look to improve that mark Wednesday. First-year Colgate head coach Shannon Bush has her team sitting at 4-4 in the early season, but the Raiders face a significant challenge against an Orange squad that ranks ninth nationally in offensive rebounds per game (17.3) and boasts one of the ACC's stingiest defenses.
A victory would push Syracuse to 9-1 overall and 7-0 at home, continuing the program's strong start under fourth-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. With momentum building and conference play underway, the Orange are positioned to make a statement in what should be another dominant performance in this in-state rivalry.
