Syracuse heads to South Florida on Sunday looking to improve its road success in ACC play when the Orange face Miami at the Watsco Center at 2 p.m. After being picked 13th in the ACC preseason poll, Syracuse currently sits fourth in the conference standings at 7-3. The Orange are 17-4 overall record and has won four of its last five.
Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's squad has been particularly impressive away from the JMA Wireless Dome, posting a stellar 3-1 record on the road in conference play—tied for the second-best road winning percentage among ACC teams. The Orange success stems from their balanced "go-to team" mentality, with nine games this season featuring four or more players scoring in double figures.
Dominique Darius has been red hot as of late, averaging 17.3 points per game in ACC contests. The Jacksonville native earned USBWA National Player of the Week honors after hitting the game-winning shot in triple overtime against California and following it up with a career-high 26 points against Stanford. Freshman sensation Uche Izoje continues to dominate as a six-time ACC Rookie of the Week. The 6-foot-3 center leads the ACC in blocks per game (2.9) and is the only freshman in the country averaging 14.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, with 10 double-doubles already this season.
Despite Miami leading the all-time series 22-15 and holding a 12-6 advantage in Coral Gables, Syracuse has won five of the last six meetings, including all three under Coach Jack. The Orange are seeking their fourth consecutive victory over the Hurricanes at 2 p.m. Sunday on ACCNX.Â
