NEXT MAN UP AT QUARTERBACK
• Syracuse has seen four different quarterbacks appear in a game this season, three of whom have logged starts, in the first five games of the season.Â
• Syracuse is the only FBS team to start three different quarterbacks this season.
• Steve Angeli earned the start in the first three games while Amari Odom started against UConn and Malachi Nelson did so against Virginia as injuries have limited the room.
• Angeli and Nelson are questionable on the ACC Availability Report, while Odom has been ruled out for Saturday's game.Â
• QB Danny Lauter became the fourth QB to see action this season when Nelson left the Virginia game with an injury in the fourth quarter.
• Amid the spell of injuries, all four QBs who have played have thrown a touchdown pass, making Syracuse the only FBS school with four different QBs to throw a TD this season.
• Syracuse is the only school in the nation to have three different QBs with at least 200 yards passing this season.
• Five different quarterbacks have started for the Orange over the last eight games, a stretch that reaches back to the end of 2025.
NICE CATCH, HATCH
• WR Umari Hatcher was placed on the Biletnikoff Award Watchlist a week ago. He has set career highs in receiving yards (560) and TDs (6) through just five games this season.
• Hatcher hauled in eight passes for 126 yards and a touchdown against Virginia and became the first SU player to have back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since Oronde Gadsden II did so in 2024.
• Hatcher set single-game highs in receiving yards (152), receptions (12) and touchdowns (3) in the win over UConn. He was named ACC Offensive Receiver of the Week for his efforts.
• All three of Hatcher's TDs against UConn were 17 yards or longer, including 41-yard and 40-yard touchdowns in the first half. The 17-yard touchdown in overtime set up the eventual game-winning two-point conversion.
• His 112.0 receiving yards per game is the 8th most in the country, third in the ACC and six receiving TDs is tied for seventh most in the nation.
• Hatcher has 13 receiving TDs in his career, tying him for the 13th most in program history. He is one touchdown away from being tied for 13th in single-season TDs with seven.
SERIES HISTORY
• Syracuse and Louisville meet for the 22nd time in history on Saturday.
• Louisville leads the series 13-8. This is the first matchup between the two schools since 2022.
• The programs met every year from 2003-22 aside from two seasons.
• Saturday's matchup is both Fran Brown and Jeff Brohm's first game in the series as head coaches. Brohm lost to Syracuse as the head coach of Purdue earlier in his career.
LAST TIME VS. LOUISVILLE
• Syracuse and Louisville last met in the season opener of 2022 at the JMA Wireless Dome.
• The Orange won the contest, 31-7.
• RB Sean Tucker ran for 100 yards and added 84 through the air. He scored on a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the win.
• QB Garrett Shrader threw for 236 yards while rushing for 94 more. He was responsible for three touchdowns, two through the air and one on the ground.
• LB Marlowe Wax had a team-high 10 tackles, including 2.5 TFLs in the victory.
• TE Oronde Gadsden II scored the first receiving TD of his career in the win.Â
• The Syracuse defense forced three turnovers in the second half to seal the win.
