ERIE, Pa. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team battled hard but fell to Mercyhurst 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst Ice Center in the regular season finale.
Syracuse (14-16-4, 10-11-3 AHA) faced a hot Mercyhurst team and saw solid stretches of play but couldn't overcome the Lakers' offensive surge. The Orange generated 31 shots on goal, showing offensive determination despite the final score. Ava Drabyk and Bella Gould combined for 30 saves in the match.
Mercyhurst (21-10-3, 17-5-2) rode strong performances from Jade Maisonneuve and Julia Perjus, who had a three-point outing. Tara Bach earned the shutout between the posts for the Lakers.

How it Happened
- The first period saw Mercyhurst build a 3-0 lead with goals spread throughout the frame. Two goals came from a Mercyhurst power play as a result of a major penalty on Sami Gendron.
- The middle period belonged to Mercyhurst, as the Lakers extended their lead to 6-0. Despite the deficit, Syracuse refused to quit and outshot Mercyhurst 14-9 in the second period, generating quality chances and showing resilience.
- In the third period, Mercyhurst added one more goal to complete the scoring at 7-0.
