Syracuse (21-6, 11-5 ACC) heads to South Bend on Thursday night to take on Notre Dame (18-9, 10-6 ACC) at Purcell Pavilion in a 7 p.m. tip on ACCNX. With two regular season games remaining, the Orange sit fourth in the ACC standings and are hunting a double bye in the upcoming Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament.
Notre Dame holds a commanding 41-6 advantage in the all-time series, though Syracuse has won two of the last four meetings between the programs, including a 79-65 victory the last time the Orange visited South Bend on Jan. 25, 2024. The Orange are 2-3 against the Fighting Irish under head coach Felisha Legette-Jack.
Offensively, Syracuse has been one of the most well-rounded teams in the ACC, averaging 75.0 points per game while ranking second in the conference in steals per game (11.0) and first in offensive rebounds per game (17.1) — sixth-best in the nation. The Orange have outrebounded opponents in 16 of their 27 games and are 16-0 when they do.
Leading the charge is freshman center Uche Izoje, who is putting together one of the most dominant rookie seasons in program history. Averaging 14.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, Izoje is the only freshman in the country putting up those numbers and leads the ACC in blocks per game. She is coming off a 26-point, 14-rebound performance against NC State and has earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors seven times this season.
Dominique Darius (13.2 ppg) and Laila Phelia (13.6 ppg) give Syracuse two additional reliable scoring options, while Sophie Burrows (11.1 ppg) rounds out one of the deepest starting fives in the conference. Notre Dame ranks 25th in the NET rankings, meaning a road win Thursday would give Syracuse a valuable Quad 1 victory heading into the postseason.
Following Thursday's road game at Notre Dame, the Orange return home for the regular season finale against Boston College on Sunday, March 1. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at cuse.com/basketballtickets.
