THE GAME
- The Orange step out of ACC play for the first time in a month as they renew a long-standing series with local foe Colgate, the 65th meeting all-time between the programs on the lacrosse field.
- Prior to Saturday's game, Syracuse will honor its Class of 2026, featuring Jordan Beck, Billy Dwan III, Riley Figueiras, Chuck Kuczynski, Michael Leo, Jimmy McCool, Luke Rhoa, Dylan Sageder, Joey Spallina, Finn Thomson, and senior manager William Dempsey.
- No. 5/No. 5 Syracuse looks to continue its momentum after knocking off No. 13/No. 9 Virginia at the Dome last weekend on Ring of Honor and Alumni Weekend.
- Saturday is the regular season home finale as Syracuse looks to remain perfect at home this season, boasting a 6-0 record at the JMA Wireless Dome this season.
- Last weekend, Syracuse picked off another longtime rival, Virginia, with a 14-9 final score. After allowing the first goal of the game, Syracuse ripped four straight to take a lead it never relinquished.
- Syracuse held firm in the polls this week, staying at number five in the Coaches Poll and moving up one spot to number five in the Media Poll. The Orange have been inside the top 10 all season long.
- Colgate comes to the Dome on a four-game run, but three of those four wins have been in Hamilton. The Raiders are 2-5 away from home this season, with the one road win in that four-game stretch coming at Navy.
- Saturday's showdown is slated for a 5 p.m. start on ACC Network, the first Syracuse game on ACC Network since February 13 against Maryland (Syracuse played six straight road games and the last three ACC games have been on ESPNU).
- Cooper Boardman and Boston Cannons midfielder Jules Heningburg will have the call for ACC Network on Saturday.
- The game will also air on the Syracuse Sports Network with Tim Leonard and Kyle Fetterly on the call for TK99/105 in Syracuse, through Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and the TuneIn app.
- Syracuse student-radio station WAER will be on hand as well for the game.
THE DRAFT
- Five Syracuse men's lacrosse players had their names called on ESPNU Tuesday night during the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft: Joey Spallina, Michael Leo, Billy Dwan III, Luke Rhoa, and Dante Bowen.
- Spallina was the third overall pick for the Maryland Whipsnakes, with Leo also going in the first round with the sixth pick to the California Redwoods. Dwan, the 11th pick, will join Spallina on the Whipsnakes, while Rhoa was the 16th pick for the New York Atlas. Bowen went 30th overall and will be teammates with Leo on the Redwoods.
- Through the 2026 Draft, Syracuse has now had 80 players selected between Major League Lacrosse and the PLL, the second-most all-time and one behind Maryland.
- The five draftees mark the largest draft class for the Orange since five also went in 2015.
- There has been a big resurgence in pro-level under head coach Gary Gait. Since Gait took over for the 2022 season, 13 Orange have been drafted into the PLL.
- Spallina and Leo represent the 25th and 26th professional field players drafted in the first round for the Orange.
THE BESTEST OF FRIENDS
- Saturday is likely the penultimate game at the Dome for the Class of 2026, with a home game in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the table.
- This class, comprised of Jordan Beck, Billy Dwan III, Riley Figueiras, Chuck Kuczynski, Michael Leo, Jimmy McCool, Luke Rhoa, Dylan Sageder, Joey Spallina, Finn Thomson, and senior manager William Dempsey, has borne the weight of returning Syracuse lacrosse back to the highest levels of the sport. And this group has done just that, helping to get Syracuse back to Championship Weekend for the first time in over a decade.
- Since stepping foot on the Hill in the fall of 2022, this group has a 43-22 record, never suffering a losing season for the Orange. Over the last three years, Syracuse has gone 35-15 while increasing the win total every season.
- There has been no place like Dome for this group, picking up a 27-8 overall record in the last four seasons at the JMA Wireless Dome, going 24-4 over the last three years.
- The 10 student-athletes have played in a combined 554 games together, racking 427 goals, 290 assists for 717 points. Over 570 ground balls have been collected and 216 turnovers caused.
- While the regular season has two more games, plus the ACC Tournament (May 1-3) and the NCAA Tournament, there is plenty of lacrosse left for the Class of 2026.
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Improve Syracuse to 52-12-1 all-time against Colgate, including a 35-6-1 home record against the Raiders.
- Bump Syracuse's home record to 7-0 on the season, a third-straight season with at least seven home wins.
- Improved the Orange to 6-1 during televised games this season.
- Keep the Orange unbeaten against unranked teams.
- Be the 972nd win in program history, the second-most all-time among Division I programs.
