- Syracuse is finally home after one of the longest road swings to open a season in program history.
- The Orange come home to a brand new AstroTurf surface (more on that later) and a 4-1 record, with the lone blemish a shootout setback against then-No. 20 Rutgers.
- By the time first push comes, it will have been 335 days since Syracuse last played at J.S. Coyne Stadium, dating back to Oct. 17, 2025 against UNC.
- The Orange are coming off a full-team victory last Sunday at Bucknell, racking a season-high 10 goals with eight different players finding the net. Hattie Madden paced the 'Cuse with her second career hat trick.
- Syracuse meets the River Hawks for the third time in program history and the first time since the 2019 season, a 1-0 clash in Lowell, Massachusetts.
- Last Sunday's game closed one of the longest road swings in program history to open a season. Excluding the unique 2020-21 season, the five games away from Coyne to open the 2026 season were the longest such streak since the 1993 team played five straight on the road to open that season. The 1993 orange went 2-3-0 in that span with wins over Louisville and Ohio State before dropping three to Penn State, Princeton, and Virginia in overtime. This year's team went 4-1 in that five-game span to open the year.
- It's been goals by committee in the early goings this year. Nine different players have scored, including four with a trio of goals (Taylor Bigbie, Hattie Madden, Aubrey Turner, and Jovie Weaver). Weaver, Hattie Madden, and Grace Anne McCooey each have a game-winning goal to their credit.
- Farquhar is in the early stages of her fourth season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 41 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.Â
With a Win Friday Syracuse Would...
- Win its first game on the brand-new AstroTurf surface at J.S. Coyne Stadium
- Win its eight-straight nonconference home game at Coyne, dating back to Sept. 13, 2024 with a 2-0 victory over Northeastern.
- Improve to 5-1 (or better) in the first six games of the season for a third time in Lynn Farquhar's first four seasons guiding the Orange.
- Improve to 3-0-0 all-time against UMass Lowell.
- Be the 42nd win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 149th overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
Orange Meets Blue
- For the first time in program history, Syracuse University field hockey will play on a blue field at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
- Over the summer, upgrades to the surface at Coyne were made as the long-time home of the Orange is now the first of its kind in the country.
- AstroTurf installed a prototype surface at J.S. Coyne Stadium for the upcoming Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028. This product continues the development program that began with the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo (2020).Â
- The new surface uses more than 70-percent sugar cane-based material.
- It features CoolPlus technology to reduce surface heat, support player welfare, and reduce water use.
- It also has a dual-yarn structure and uses Turf Glide to reduce friction and water requirements.Â
- Officially, the color is Poligras LA Blue, a brighter blue color due to the CoolPlus technology.
- Syracuse is now one of seven Division I teams to play on a blue water-based surface joining fellow ACC programs Duke and Virginia, in addition to Liberty, Longwood, Saint Louis, and of course Friday's foe, UMass Lowelll, which plays its home games at Wicked Blue Field in Lowell, Massachusetts.

- Concessions will be open at J.S. Coyne Stadium for Friday's home opener!
- Food Services will be sending pizza by the slice, candy, and select Coca-Cola Products
- In addition to Friday's game, concessions will be available at the following games: Oct. 9 vs. Louisville, Oct. 23 vs. Stanford, and Oct. 30 vs. Boston College.
