Mungro finished the game with 142 yards on 23 carries. He now stands 13th on the SU all-time career rushing list with 2,088 yards.
James Mungro crossed the 100-yard mark for the eighth time in his career. Mungro is tied for sixth place with Bill Hurley on the SU career 100-yard games list.
James Mungro's third quarter touchdown run marked the second time in as many games that he has rushed for at least two scores in a contest. It is the fifth two-touchdown game of his career. Mungro added his third touchdown run in the fourth quarter, establishing a career-high. He is the first Orangemen to rush for three touchdowns in one game since Dee Brown versus Rutgers last season.
Senior cornerback Will Hunter forced and recovered a fumble in the second quarter. It was Hunter's first career fumble recovery and third career forced fumble.
Senior defensive end Dwight Freeney extended his consecutive games with a sack streak to 12 games when he took down Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell in the second quarter. Freeney added another sack in the fourth quarter, marking the sixth straight game he has had at least two sacks. Freeney's second sack forced a fumble which he recovered. He now has 24.5 sacks, tying him with Duke Pettijohn for second on the all-time SU sack list. Freeney and Pettijohn are tied for seventh on the BIG EAST career sack ledger.
Cornerback Latroy Oliver intercepted his first pass of the season in the third quarter. It was Oliver's first interception since his freshman year in 1999 when he returned one for a 25-yard touchdown versus Temple. Oliver later forced a fumble in the fourth quarter, the second of his career.
The Syracuse defense forced five turnovers, the most since the 2000 season-opening victory versus Buffalo. The Orangemen recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes against the Bulls.
Junior Barry Baker had his first career carry in the fourth quarter. Baker played linebacker and on special teams as a sophomore before moving to offense this season. He was recruited to Syracuse as a tailback. Keith "Thump" Belton also had his first career carry.
