Coach Boeheim’s Post-Game Quotes
On the game:
“I thought we were sharper the other night (against LeMoyne). We came out and were more active. We got on the boards and we were quicker to the ball. When you get out re-bounded by a team that’s 6-3 in size, it’s just a matter of them going to the ball better, quicker than you are and we just didn’t do a good job at all the first half, getting on the boards and using the abilities we have.”
“I thought our decision-making was poor throughout the game, we just made some real bad turnovers. The good side of that is we were pushing it pretty good, getting down the court. They’re (Saint Rose) a small, quick team. If you get it up the court on them, that’s a good sign but we just made some bad decisions. We made some poor decisions in transition that I think we didn’t make in the first game but that’s part of the learning process.”
“I thought Terrence (Roberts) came in and was really active and did a lot of good things. Josh Pace and Hakim (Warrick) were good but overall I think we were more active the other night.”
“These two games have helped us. More than playing a more talented AU team, I think this is more like what you have to play against. Both teams move the ball well, screen, and did some really good things, which will help us defensively.”
On Saint Rose:
“You should give Saint Rose a lot of credit. I think they’re very well coached, they move the ball, they’re tough kids and I thought they played well. Again, another case that they had some open looks in the first half and if they knocked down a couple of those it would’ve been a pretty respectable game but I really think they did a good job.”
On the importance of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic:
“It’s a great test for us, a great opportunity to play good teams early and it’s good for our team to be in that situation. We’re going to have really good games early this year and I think that’s something that will help us figure out what we have to do. We all know once we get into the league, how tough it’s going to be. I think these games now, the tournament and the games we play early are really going to help us.”
