A two-time All-American at defensive back, Abrams owns the SU record for season (24) and career (55) passes defended. Abrams was selected in the second round of the 1997 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and played three season for the Lions. He was named to Syracuse University's All-Century team in November, 1999.
As a senior, Abrams earned first-team All-America honors for the second consecutive year and was one of two unanimous All-BIG EAST selections for the Orange. He recorded 33 total tackles, 12 pass break-ups, two blocked kicks and a recovered fumble.
As a junior, started the first 10 games of the 1995 season before injuring his elbow in the win over Boston College. Abrams returned to action in the Gator Bowl, recording two interceptions to help the Orange defeat Clemson. Led the BIG EAST in interceptions (6) and pass breakups (18) for a second consecutive year and ranked seventh on the team with 47 tackles. Garnered FWAA All-America honors and was a first-team All-BIG EAST Conference selection.
As a sophomore, Abrams started all 11 games at cornerback, ranking sixth among Syracuse defenders with 66 tackles. Also led the BIG EAST Conference with 19 pass break-ups.
As a freshman, Abrams played in nine games, recording a season-high two tackles against West Virginia.
