Coach Quentin Hillsman Postgame Quotes
Syracuse Women’s Basketball Quotes
Coach Quentin Hillsman
Syracuse vs. Central Michigan University
December 9, 2006// Carrier Dome
Talk about the difference between the first half and the second half today.
“I think we hit one of those dry spots in the second half where we just did not make shots. We also had a few too many turnovers that led to layups.”
How significant were the turnovers?
“Two of the turnovers led to layups and we did not guard those. The turnovers leading to the layups were definitely a significant part of the game.”
What do you think about your defense today?
“We gave up 42 points in the second half and that was definitely a problem for us.”
Do you expect more than five points from your bench?
“You always want your bench to produce. I do not think our bench was the problem today. We gave up too many points today but we had some good scoring. I do not think it is fair to say that our bench did not perform today. I think they played as hard as they could.”
Do you consider this a “good” loss?
“No. I aim for a shutout. We just hit a drought after coming off of some great games, especially against St. John’s. There are no excuses for this game. We just came up short.”
How hard is it to allow Nicole Michael to show-off her talent while also staying within the scheme of things?
“It is not hard at all. Her turnovers today were my fault. We tell her to be very aggressive and she just shines. It is a team effort though. The bench and the court all missed some things today. They are a young team and are still learning.”
Do you think Ashley McMillen is still adjusting to playing again?
“Absolutely. When you come out and play as hard as you can play and put as much effort as you can into the game, and you still come up short, you can not look at who did not play well, but how the team as a whole can play better together.”
