Rorke Denver was an Orange captain and All-American who helped lead the team to its 14th-straight NCAA Semifinal game. As a versatile player, Denver was able play both defensive midfield and close defense for Syracuse.
Senior Year (1996): Tri-captain…received All-American Honorable Mention…started in all 15 games…scored four goals and had one assist…recovered 42 groundballs…scored two goals and had the assist in the win at Cornell…also scored against Towson and Virginia…played for the North in the North-South Collegiate All-Star game.
Junior Year (1995): Valuable long stick defensive midfielder…also saw action at close defense…played in all 15 games.
Sophomore Year (1994): Saw action in the defensive midfield in all 15 games…scored one goal in the win at Pennsylvania.
Freshman Year (1993): Had two points for the season with a goal against Rutgers and an assist against Pennsylvania.
High School: Attended Los Altos High School…two-time All-American…led the team with a record of 45 goals (45-16-61)…school record holder with 127 career points on 85 goals and 42 assists for Coach Mike Vogel…three-time first team selection in the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association…1992 NCJLA tournament MVP…played in the North-South game…played varsity water polo and was the team’s MVP and high scorer with 103 goals and 72 assists as a senior.
Personal: Son of Thomas and Deanna Denver…born October 26, 1973 in Palo Alto, Calif…both parents attended SU…father rowed for the SU crew team in the mid-60s…majored in speech communication.
