Jason Gebhardt, an All-American goalie for the Orange had a stellar year in 1996. He holds SU’s records for most saves in an NCAA single game (26 vs. UNC) and most saves in an NCAA Tournament (65). In the same year, Jason managed to break into SU’s single game saves record books twice, tying for sixth with 28 saves against Johns Hopkins and tying for 10th against Virginia with 27. In total, Jason saved 265 shots, placing him third on the single season saves list.
Overall, Gebhardt ranks fourth on SU’s career saves list with 632 and fourth on the career NCAA saves list with 117.
Senior Year (1998): Started in all 14 games…received All-American Honorable Mention…had 157 saves and a .545 saver percentage…had a season-high 20 saves in a win against Johns Hopkins…recorded 16 saves in the NCAA Semifinal loss to Princeton.
Junior Year (1997): Started all 14 games…recorded 203 saves…had one of his best career games when he recorded 23 saves and allowed only four goals in a win at Massachusetts…had 18 saves in the NCAA Quarterfinal victory against Loyola.
Sophomore Year (1996): Started all 15 games in the crease…recorded 265 saves, third-best in school history…had five, 20-plus save games, including two in the NCAA Tournament.…stopped 21 Army shots and allowed a season-low three goals in the first round of the tournament.
Freshman Year (1995): Played in six games, all in reserve…had a .368 save percentage, making seven saves.
High School: Attended West Genesee High School…Two-year letterwinner in lacrosse…also lettered three years in hockey…team captain senior year…46 saves and nine goals allowed…played on the 1993 Central Empire State Games team
