Richard C. Kleinhans graduated from Syracuse University in 1943 with a degree in engineering. He lettered as a member of the lacrosse team under the direction of head coach Roy Simmons, Sr. He was also involved with the SU rowing association and the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
Kleinhans graduated from Syracuse earlier than his classmates, finishing in December, and entered the Merchant Marines. After his tour of duty Kleinhans began work at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. He stayed at Kodak throughout his career and retired as a Senior Vice President of Human Resources. His job took him all over the country and to many parts of the world, including Japan.
Kleinhans was always very involved with his community. For many years he served on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts and also was a member of the Board for the United Way in the Rochester area. Kleinhans is an active member of SU's Alumni Club both in Rochester and in Florida and is an active member of SU's Varsity Club.
