Don Giancola was elected to the Men’s Student Government and was a class campaign manager.
Don is president of D.J. Giancola Exports, Inc, in Syracuse, a company which he created in 1959 and which has developed into a reputable and successful international company. He has received numberous awards for excellence in exporting, including the President’s “E” Award, the Governor’s Award for Achievement, and many Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Top 100 awards.
Don has been very active with the Totary Club of Dewitt, Inc, and served as a director and past-president from 1968 to 1995. He has been a director or chairperson of the Canal Center, Inc., Syracuse Stage, United Way, Totary International and Hospice of Central New York. Don has been a member of the World Trade Club and the U.S. and Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. He has been financial chairman for Assemblymen Hy Miller, Harold Brown Jr., and George Wortley. He was on the Organizing committee of the Father Charles Golf Open and was active with the St. Thomas More and St. Albans Fund drives.
He is currently active in Boca Taton, Florida, serving as past-president and director of the Caldwell Theatre Co., past-president and director of the Torch Club, Rotary Club and the President’s council of Florida Atlantic University.
Don and his wife Marilyn have been extraordinary alumni and supporters. Don has served as a member and/or chaired of the following: National committee for the Student Center, Ernie Davis Football Fund, Carrier Dome Committee, Orange Pack, Athletic Policy Board, Ad Hoc Stadium Committee and Hardwood Fun National committee. Don and Marilyn made a significant contribution to the Moses Sculpture and donated a room in the Schine Student center. Don has also contributed to various SU funds including the Hall of Languages Renovation, Schine Student center, Orange Pack and National Scholarship Fund Drive. He currently serves on the Commitment of Learning Campaign and is a lifetime member of the Varsity Club of SU.
