Roy Colsey was a four-time All-American captain for the Orange. In his senior year, he earned the Lt. Donald C. McLaughlin, Jr. Award for outstanding midfielder. He is tied for 17th on SU’s single-season goal list with the 44 he scored in 1994. His seven-goal game against Loyola places him eighth on the single-game goal list. In 2006, he joined other Orange players such as Michael Powell and Pat McCabe on the United States World Games team.
Senior Year (1995): One of four captains … Named first-team All-American … started all 15 games … second highest goal-scorer on team with 35 … tallied 16 assists, fourth on team … totaled 51 points … recovered 46 groundballs … scored at least three goals in six games … scored seven goals and had an assist against Loyola … scored four goals and had three assists during the NCAA tournament … played for the North in the North/South Collegiate All-Star Game.
Junior Year (1994): Named first-team All-American … led the Orange in scoring and groundballs … had two, six goal games (Hobart & Cornell) … scored 44 goals and 13 assists, totaling 57 points.
Sophomore Year (1993): Named first-team All-American … had six (5-1) points in NCAA tournament play … two goals against Princeton in NCAA semifinals and tied his career high in assists with two in that game … had four goals against Michigan State … third leading scorer for SU with 34 points …second on the team in goals with 28 on 83 shots.
Freshman Year (1992): Earned third team All-American honors, playing on both the first and second midfield … finished 7th on the team in goals (17), assists (6) and points (23) … had seven multi-goal games on the year … season-high four points (2-2) vs. C.W. Post … had four points in the NCAA tournament with two goals and two assists … scored four goals at the Fleet Invitational at Brown.
High School: Two-time All-American for Coach Jim Turnbull’s 1989 and ’91 state champion Yorktown squad … named MVP of the 1991 state championship game … 1990 Empire State Games gold medalist and 1989 silver medalist … scored 111 points on 84 goals and 27 assists as a senior … earned four letters in wrestling and three in football.
