Player Quotes
Christina Dove, Jr., M
On if the first half felt like the loss to Virginia:
“Yeah, definitely. I think at first we weren’t playing as confidently as we should and we weren’t going after ground balls and everything like we are capable of. In the second half, it took us that long to get into our groove again and do what we know we can do. We came out a lot stronger than we did in the first half.
On what took place to turn the game around:
“I was just sticking with it, even after making turnovers and bad plays, just sticking with it basically and knowing that good things will happen if you keep hustling and controlling the things you can and just trying to help your teammates and get the draw controls “
On if she made some bad plays:
“I wasn’t playing my best lacrosse and I thought that I wasn’t helping out the team as much, but I thought if I just kept hustling and doing the things that I can control, things would turn around and we could win the game.”
Halley Quillinan, Jr., A/M
On if the first half felt like the loss to Virginia:
“I think after we left the field when we played Virginia, there were a lot of things that we wish we had done better. One thing is to just play smarter and play with more aggression on the field. In the first half I think we saw a little bit of a lapse just like we had against Virginia, and in the second half, we came out strong. Our captain, Bridget Looney, took us aside, and told us we can play our game, we can play an aggressive style of play and we can beat these girls. I think that is exactly what happened in the second half.”
On how her game has changed in her third season:
“I think going into this year I wanted to work more on dodging and that was my goal today. I clearly wasn’t shooting that well in the first half. Going in there, I saw a mismatch dodging wise, and I took it. I just kept working it and kept building my confidence and really worked on placing my shots.”
On the team’s performance in the last 20 minutes:
”I think we played the best we have all year. I think that came from confidence. We attacked every ball, every draw control and caused a lot of turnovers and really ruined their transition game. I was really proud of the way our team put it together in the second half.”
